Field of Research


Our research activities concentrate on the atomic structure and the electronic properties of surfaces, interfaces and nanostructures. At present we investigate mainly nanowires and clusters on silicon surfaces as well as III-V nanostructures such as quantum dots. For these studies we especially apply local methods like scanning-tunneling microscopy (STM) and cross-sectional scanning-tunneling microscopy (XSTM) as well as the respective spectroscopies (STS, XSTS). In addition, we are using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) for the growth of nanostructures and photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) at the Berlin storage ring BESSY-II for investigations of the electronic properties.
