Development and study of quantum dot - microlasers
Quantum dot – microlasers are fascinating and highly interesting structures with respect to the development of an ultimate semiconductor laser based for instance on a single gain center. On the other hand, these types of lasers will be key building blocks for optical interconnects in future high performance computers. We are interested in the development and study of advanced quantum dot – microlasers with low threshold currents and tailored emission features such as directional in-plane emission of whispering gallery mode microlasers and mode coupling. Moreover, we explore specific quantum dot features such as single quantum dot controlled lasing effects as well as gain competition between different lasing modes.
