Picosecond - Lab

In the picoseconds lab time- and space-resolved photoluminescence measurements in the ps range, as well as resonant excitations in the range of 190 nm to 4000 nm at temperatures between 4 K and 400 K can be carried out.

This is accomplished by a Ti:Sapphire laser with a pulse duration of 1.6 ps and a repetition rate of 80 MHz, which can also be converted to a pulse duration of 150 fs. Thereby he has a maximum output power of 1.8 W (averaged, quasi cw) and is able to emit wavelengths of 720 nm to 1000 nm. Through to second harmonic generation (SHG), third harmonic generation (THG) and forth harmonic generation (FHG), it is possible to double the wavelength, triple and quadruple, to get in the blue and UV wavelength range. Moreover an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) is available to get further into the IR range. Altogether, one can achieve excitations in a range of 190 nm to 4000 nm. For time-resolved measurements, a subtractive double monochromator with a focal length of 0.3 m and different detectors (e.g. a multi channel plate (MCP)) can be used for detection. To measure high-resolution photoluminescence an additive double monochromator with a focal length of 0.75 m with a spectral resolution in the range of 20 pm is available.

With the aid of a flow cryostat and a bath cryostat temperature-dependent photoluminescence measurements from 1.8 K to 400 K are possible. A via piezo elements controllable lens in front of the cryostat allows us to scanning the sample for spatially resolved measurements.
